Proofreading & Copyediting

So you have this thing you’ve written, and it’s amazing. You’re super excited to share your work with the world, but you want to make sure it’s absolutely perfect before you send it off or hit publish.

That’s where I come in.

Proofreading: What To Expect

Has your project already gone through the copyediting stage? For those clients at the last stage of the editing process, I provide a basic proofreading service. I will check over your work for spelling mistakes, punctuation and formatting issues, and typos.

As a proofreader, I will adhere to any style sheet you provide.

Copyediting: What To Expect

I provide a light to moderate copyediting service. This means I will check for any spelling, punctuation, formatting, and grammar issues. I will also make sure your style is consistent, flag basic content inconsistencies, and point out any awkward phrasing or ambiguities. If you’re working on a novel or short work of fiction, I’ll make sure to flag glaring plot holes and incorrect dialogue tags. Finally, although I will not provide a heavy fact-check of your work, I will verify basic facts.

As a copyeditor, I will adhere to any style sheet you provide. If you don’t have one, don’t worry! I’ll create a style sheet specifically for your project.

What Not To Expect

I do not provide developmental or line editing services at this time. This means that I will not make any substantial or developmental changes to your project, including working with you on detailed plot structure or characterization. Please also note that although I will verify basic facts and ensure consistency of facts, I will not provide an in-depth fact-check.
